Interactive Murder Mysteries
How it works
Beginning at cocktail hour, you are introduced to the characters, and immersed into the theme of the evening, whether it is a Roaring 20’s party, a wedding or a funeral! The actors mingle with your guests to break the ice, create comic scenes, and get to know your group. When dinner is served, the real action begins! Because our shows are not traditionally staged theatre, guests can still talk amongst themselves, and are only asked to watch extended scenes a few times over the course of the evening. This makes for a great mix of entertainment and socialization.
Over heated arguments and gossip, characters drop clues at your table, and you are given the chance to interact with the characters as they make their rounds. Nearly every show has an interactive component, such as a pig hollering competition in Hillbilly Wedding, an 80s trivia contest in High School Reunion, or a dating game in our Valentine’s show. No one is ever forced to participate; we only involve willing guests, while their friends or co-workers cheer them on and laugh (and take pictures for later blackmailing).
There may be stabbings, gunshots, poisonings, and hangings… most happening right in front of your eyes! The ever-clever detective leads an investigation in which you are fully involved, and physical evidence is placed out for you to peruse and analyze. Early in the event, you receive a list of suspects to keep track of who’s who, and a ballot to fill out at the end of the show. Your solution ballot is collected and checked before the final summation by the detective. The guest with the best answer receives a Super Sleuth certificate, and we even give a Bumbling Fool award for the funniest answer. We bring the entertainment and leave the venue and dinner plan up to you, so you have full control over your event. We can perform anywhere: your house, a private room in a restaurant, a hotel, a community centre or whatever fits your group.
What’s NOT Included?
You book your venue and your food service, and we will join you wherever you are. If you event is in one of our troupe-based cities (or surrounding area), there are no transportation fees, but we are happy to travel pretty much anywhere in Canada for an additional fee. We ask that you or the venue provide a good working sound system for groups over 45, or if the venue has exceptionally bad acoustics (good sound will make or break a show). The actors also need a small space to store their street clothes, props, and possible victims as the night wears on.
How much will this cost?
Our Murder Mysteries usually run from $1000 – $4000, depending on group size, number of actors, and travel costs outside troupe cities. Typically, a full show is about $2000, but we try to work with most budgets if possible!
We even have a one-actor show for groups of under 12 guests for $575. This is only available in select cities, and we bring everything needed to lead the while you play the characters. If you are trying to put on your own public show, we can partner with you and charge per ticket, usually $20 – $35 depending on size of group and whether travel is required. Email us for a quote!
