Interactive Murder Mysteries in Halifax
Halifax is a city that appreciates a good story. Smoking Gun Entertainment simply prefers ours with suspicious motives, terrible alibis and at least one body.
Our Halifax troupe provides interactive murder mystery entertainment for corporate events, Christmas parties, team-building evenings, fundraisers and private celebrations throughout HRM and Central Nova Scotia. The local market is led by producer Cam White, with regional performers bringing Smoking Gun’s improv-driven format directly to the client’s venue.
Cam is a folk-inspired pop rock artist, actor, writer and storyteller who combines guitar, harmonica and stories of life, love and travel on stage. He holds a fine arts degree from the University of Wichita in Kansas, with majors in English and drama, and has twelve years of professional acting and musician work behind him, including two semi-professional theatre companies. He also owns CW LIVE Entertainment, a booking agency now in its thirteenth year.
A strong local example is a Smoking Gun corporate event for Liberty Tax at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax. That kind of hotel setting is ideal for the format: guests can enjoy cocktails and dinner while characters circulate through the room, build relationships and quietly reveal the clues that will matter later. The show does not require a traditional theatre setup or a separate performance hall.
Once the murder happens, the room becomes an investigation. Guests compare evidence, question suspects and decide which apparently respectable character is lying. The performers improvise heavily with the audience, which means coworkers, friends and unexpected comments from the room can become part of the comedy. Participation is encouraged but never forced.
For corporate groups, this works as team building without announcing itself as team building. People from different tables and departments have an immediate reason to talk, and the shared mystery keeps the evening moving. For private events, the same format creates a full-night experience without preventing guests from eating, drinking and socializing normally.
Smoking Gun offers themes ranging from classic whodunits and holiday mysteries to weddings, Mafia stories, reunions and resort disasters. We can keep the humour corporate-safe or allow a more adult tone when the host wants it.
You provide the venue and meal; the Halifax troupe brings the characters, clues, detective and fictional crime scene. It is a flexible format designed to fit the event rather than take it over.
Where we perform around Halifax
Our Halifax troupe serves the entire HRM, including Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford and Lower Sackville. That means an event does not need to be on the peninsula to be treated as a local Halifax-area booking.
The cast can also travel farther into Central Nova Scotia, including Truro, Windsor and Wolfville, and may be able to reach Chester, Lunenburg and other destination communities depending on the event. If the perfect venue is outside HRM, send us the location and we will confirm what is practical.
